Expiration & Storage Tips
When does Aioli expire?
Aioli typically has a short shelf life. Unopened, it can last in the pantry until the 'best by' date on the packaging, typically around 3-4 months. Once opened, aioli will last only 1-2 weeks if properly stored in the refrigerator. Although freezing is uncommon, it can be done. In the freezer, it can last for 3-4 months. If you have made homemade aioli, it will last for about 1 week in the fridge.
How do you tell if Aioli is bad?
If the aioli looks more watery than usual or has a layer of separation, this could mean it's gone bad. Also, if there is mold or a strange smell, it is best to discard it. Aioli contains raw egg which makes it susceptible to bacteria, so it's important to be careful. If you are unsure it’s always better to err on the side of caution and dispose of it.
Tips for storing Aioli to extend shelf life
• Always keep aioli sealed tight, to stop air particles from spoiling it.
• Store it in the refrigerator. The cold temperature will help it last longer.
• Don’t leave the aioli out of the fridge for extended periods.
• If you made homemade aioli, put it in the fridge soon right after making it.
• If you decide to freeze aioli, use a freezer-safe, airtight container to prevent freezer burn.
