Expiration & Storage Tips
When does Potato Wedges expire?
When stored properly, homemade potato wedges generally maintain their best quality for 3-5 days in the refrigerator. Although, it's always better to consume them fresh so you can enjoy them at their crispiest. If you freeze them, they can last for around 10-12 months. Store-bought potato wedges or those from a restaurant typically have a best before date printed on the packaging: they can usually be stored in your fridge for up to a week beyond this date, and in your freezer for several months.
How do you tell if Potato Wedges is bad?
Spoiled potato wedges will develop a foul smell, obvious mold, and a slimy or mushy texture. If they have strange colors (like green, brown, black, or white molds) you should definitely not eat them. As they start going bad, they may also lose their firmness and become softer, with their taste becoming sour over time.
Tips for storing Potato Wedges to extend shelf life
• Store your potato wedges in cool, dark, and well-ventilated places.
• For longer-term storage, freezing is a suitable option. Divide them into reasonable portions, place in airtight containers or freezer bags and freeze.
• If you want to store them in the refrigerator, wrap them securely in aluminium foil or plastic wrap to prevent the wedges from absorbing odours of other food in the refrigerator.
• To reheat, consider using an oven or air fryer to get back that crunch and avoid making them soggy.
