Expiration & Storage Tips
When does rice noodle expire?
Rice noodles generally have a long shelf life. Unopened and stored in a cool, dry place, they can last up to 1 year beyond the printed date. Once opened, if stored correctly, they should still have a good shelf life of around 6 months. If you've already cooked your rice noodles, ideally consume them within 3 to 4 days when stored in the refrigerator. Freezing isn’t a common method for rice noodles, but it's possible - they could last in the freezer for 1 to 2 months.
How do you tell if rice noodle is bad?
Check on the noodles if they have any odd smell or appearance. They might give off a rancid or musty odor, or have mold growing, which could be white, green or even dark spots. If it's cooked noodles, they might become slimy or mushy. If you notice any of these signs, it's best to throw them away as consuming spoiled rice noodles can cause food borne illness.
Tips for storing rice noodle to extend shelf life
• Store uncooked rice noodles in a cool, dry, and dark place like your pantry
• After opening the package, ensure it is tightly sealed before re-storing to avoid moisture, which can cause the noodles to spoil.
• Cooked rice noodles should always be stored in airtight containers in the refrigerator.
• After cooking, let the noodles cool to room temperature before storing them in the refrigerator.
