SAUCE
2
In a skillet over medium heat, add the olive oil. Once heated, add in the chopped onion with a teaspoon each of salt and black pepper. Saute until softened, about 5-6 minutes.
3
Add in the minced garlic and saute for an additional minute.
4
Add in the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon as it cooks for about 5-6 minutes until browned.
5
Stir in 1 cup of pasta sauce and half of the chopped fresh basil leaving the rest for layering, followed by the partially cooked spaghetti. Toss to combine the ingredients well.
ASSEMBLY
6
Spray a 9x13 inch baking dish with cooking spray. Add half the spaghetti mixture to the baking dish. Layer with 1/2 cup of pasta sauce, half the basil, and half of each cheese. Repeat the layers with the remaining ingredients.
7
Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, until the cheese is golden brown and bubbly.
