Expiration & Storage Tips
When does ritz cracker expire?
Unopened, Ritz Crackers will usually remain at optimal quality for about 6-9 months beyond the 'best by' date on the package. Once opened, they can last for about 1-2 weeks if stored properly, though they may start to lose their crispness after a week. Freezing is not a common storage method for Ritz Crackers, but should you need to do so, they can last up to 2 months in the freezer.
How do you tell if ritz cracker is bad?
Fresh Ritz Crackers are known for their noticeable buttery aroma, and a light, crisp texture. If the crackers have taken on a dull or stale smell, that's usually an indicator that they've gone bad. Any tell-tale signs of mold, off-colors or a change in texture (a noticeably less crispy or soft texture) are other indicators that the crackers are past their prime. Please discard the entire package if you notice any of these signs.
Tips for storing ritz cracker to extend shelf life
• Always store Ritz Crackers in a cool, dry place, away from sunlight, heat, and moisture.
• Once opened, transfer the remaining crackers into an airtight container or resealable bag to keep them fresh for longer.
• If you've already opened a sleeve of crackers, ensure you seal it tightly after each use to prevent them from becoming stale.
• Do not store them near strong-smelling food items, as the crackers might absorb the odors.
• Although not common, if you choose to freeze your crackers, pack them tightly in freezer-safe bags. Thaw at room temperature before use.
