Remove the tofu from its packaging and press it between kitchen towels to remove the excess moisture. Let the tofu dry for 15-20 minutes.

Cut the tofu into 1-inch cubes. In a large zip-locked bag, combine the salt, pepper, garlic powder and 1 tablespoon of cornstarch. Add the cubed tofu into the bag and shake until the tofu is evenly coated.

In a measuring cup, stir together the soy sauce, honey, apple cider vinegar, 1 teaspoon of cornstarch and red pepper flakes. Set this sauce aside.

In a large nonstick skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of avocado oil over medium-high heat. Add the tofu and pan-fry until all sides are golden brown and crispy, about 6-7 minutes.
