1 lb brussels sprouts
cleaned, trimmed and halved

Rinse the Brussels sprouts, trim them at the base and halve. Set them aside.

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

Add the Brussels sprouts, cut side down, into the skillet. Let them cook undisturbed for about 3 to 4 minutes, until they are golden brown at the bottom.

Pour in ¼ cup of water and cover the skillet. Allow the Brussels sprouts to steam until they're tender. This should take around 3 minutes.

Once they're tender, remove the sprouts from the skillet and put them on a plate.

In the same skillet, combine balsamic vinegar, honey, dijon mustard, and minced garlic. Stir until combined.

Lower the heat and let the mixture simmer until it's thick and syrupy, which should take about 6 to 8 minutes.

Add in the butter and stir until melted. This will give the glaze a smooth, glossy finish.

Return the Brussels sprouts to the pan and toss them in the glaze until they're well coated.

Sprinkle the sprouts with Kosher salt, freshly ground black pepper, and lemon zest. Toss once more to combine.
