Discover the pleasure of tender toasted spaghetti entwined in a rich and full-bodied homemade marinara sauce. Finished off with a charming sprinkle of Parmigiano-Reggiano, this dish captivates with its simplicity and comfort.
In a large saucepan, dry toast the spaghetti over medium heat until golden, stirring frequently. Add water carefully into the pan (it may sputter) and add a pinch of salt. Boil the spaghetti until it's al dente.
SAUCE
2
While the spaghetti is toasting, start preparing the sauce. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat, then add onion, cooking until it turns translucent.
3
Add the minced garlic to the onions, cooking until fragrant.
4
Pour the tomato sauce into the skillet, along with the dried basil and salt, stirring to combine. Let it simmer until the spaghetti is ready.
ASSEMBLE
5
Drain the pasta, reserving a little of the toasty pasta water. Add the spaghetti to the skillet, tossing it in the sauce. If needed, add a bit of reserved pasta water to loosen the sauce.
6
Sprinkle generously with finely grated Parmigiano-Reggiano before serving.
