Gradually add in the white corn grits to the pot. Reduce the heat to medium-low and let it cook.

Stir the grits frequently to prevent lumps from forming. Let it cook for about 15 minutes until the water is nearly absorbed and the grits are thick.

Incorporate half of the evaporated milk, salt, and pepper into the pot and stir.

In a small pan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté until golden and aromatic. Fold in the garlic-butter mixture into the grits for added flavor.
