Expiration & Storage Tips
When does Bolognese expire?
Whether homemade or purchased from a store, Bolognese sauce, like many other sauces and soups, can be refrigerated for 3 to 4 days. If frozen, it will last for 4 to 6 months. Always put a date on your Bolognese before storing so you have a record of when it was made
How do you tell if Bolognese is bad?
If your Bolognese sauce has gone bad, it will have a sour or off smell. It might also change color or develop mold. These are all indications that the sauce is no longer safe to eat and should be thrown out immediately. When in doubt, remember that it's better to be safe than sorry.
Tips for storing Bolognese to extend shelf life
• Store Bolognese sauce in an airtight container in the fridge or freezer.
• Add a label with the date the sauce was made to keep track of its freshness.
• If you want to freeze Bolognese, separate it into portion sizes. That way, you can thaw only what you need.
