Expiration & Storage Tips
When does Lemon Loaf expire?
For store-bought lemon loaf, it's safe to keep it for about 2 to 3 days at room temperature or 5 to 7 days refrigerated from the time you open it. Unopened and kept in the pantry, it can usually last until the best before date on the packaging. If you choose to freeze it, it can extend the lifetime up to 3 months safely.
How do you tell if Lemon Loaf is bad?
A bad lemon loaf will usually show a change in texture, color and smell. The once moist loaf may become hard, dry, and darker in color. Also, take note of any odors that don’t match the normal aromatic smell of a lemon loaf. If you notice any mold or spots of mold growing, discard the entire loaf immediately.
Tips for storing Lemon Loaf to extend shelf life
• Always remember to seal your loaf in airtight plastic wrap or a container to prevent it from getting stale or absorbing odors from other foods in your refrigerator.
• If you're planning on freezing your lemon loaf, make sure to protect it from freezer burn. You can wrap it in plastic wrap and then in foil, or place it in a resealable freezer bag.
• To defrost your frozen lemon loaf, let it sit in the refrigerator overnight. This allows it to thaw slowly and retain its moisture.
• Always keep your loaf away from direct sunlight or heat when stored at room temperature to avoid wilting.
• For loaves stored in the pantry or at room temperature, ensure they are in a dry, cool environment. Moisture can accelerate mould growth.
