Preheat your waffle iron to the medium-high setting.

In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the unsalted butter and dark chocolate. Heat in the microwave on high in 20-second intervals, stirring after each interval until fully melted.

To this molten mix, add the granulated white sugar. Stir until well mixed.

Add the two large eggs, whole milk, and vanilla extract into the bowl. Whisk these ingredients together until they are uniformly combined.

In another bowl, sift the plain flour, Dutch-processed cocoa powder and salt. Gradually add this dry mix into the chocolate mixture and stir until just combined, making sure not to over mix.
