Expiration & Storage Tips
When does Spinach Quiche expire?
A store-bought, unopened spinach quiche usually has a sell-by date on its package, which is approximately 3-5 days from the day of purchase. Beyond this, it may not be safe to consume. Once opened, it should ideally be consumed within 3-4 days, provided it is stored in the fridge. A homemade spinach quiche will also last for about 3-4 days in the fridge. As for storing the quiche in the freezer, it can extend its life up to 2-3 months, but be sure to cool and wrap it properly before freezing to maintain the quality.
How do you tell if Spinach Quiche is bad?
If the spinach quiche appears moldy, or has a bad odor, it is a clear sign that it has spoiled. The texture of the quiche might also change, becoming too soft, soggy or overly hard which are strong signs of the quiche going bad. If the color has changed to a darker or dried out appearance, this could suggest it's no longer fresh.
Tips for storing Spinach Quiche to extend shelf life
• Always store the quiche in the refrigerator; it should never be left at room temperature for more than 2 hours.
• If you are preparing a homemade spinach quiche, allow it to cool down completely before you place it in the fridge.
• Wrap the opened or leftover quiche tightly with aluminum foil or plastic wrap or store it in an airtight container to reduce air exposure.
• If freezing a quiche, let it cool completely first, then wrap in a layer of plastic wrap and a layer of aluminum foil to prevent freezer burn. To thaw, it's best to put it in the fridge for 24 hours before reheating.
