Expiration & Storage Tips
When does Oatmeal Bars expire?
Oatmeal bars will generally last about two weeks if stored properly. Specifically, if your oatmeal bars are store-bought, unopened, and still sealed in their original packaging, they could last quite a bit longer - up to six months past the printed date on the package. However, once the package has been opened, the bars will remain fresh for about a week. If frozen, oatmeal bars can last up to 6 months.
How do you tell if Oatmeal Bars is bad?
Not sure if your oatmeal bars have gone bad? First and foremost, take a look at the bar. If you see any mold or other discolorations, it’s time to throw them out. An off smell is another clear indicator. If your oatmeal bars look fine but smell odd, trust your nose! Another less obvious sign would be texture. If your bars have become hard and less chewy, they might have gone stale and it's best to discard them. Remember, when in doubt, it's always safer to toss them out!
Tips for storing Oatmeal Bars to extend shelf life
• Store oatmeal bars in an airtight container or resealable bag to keep them fresh for longer. Make sure the container is dry to avoid moisture entering it.
• If you bought a big pack and can't finish it within a week or two, consider freezing them. Simply wrap each bar individually in plastic wrap or freezer-safe bags and stash them in the freezer. When you're ready to eat one, just remove it from the freezer and allow it to thaw at room temperature.
• Keep your oatmeal bars in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. High temperatures can cause the bars to become stale quicker.
• It's best not to store them in the fridge as this can change their texture, making them hard and less enjoyable to eat.
