Expiration & Storage Tips
When does strawberry milk expire?
The shelf-life of strawberry milk can differ depending on whether it's store-bought or homemade. Unopened, store-bought strawberry milk generally stays fresh up until the 'best by' date printed on the package, usually around 7 to 10 days. After being opened, it's best to consume it within 5 to 7 days. On the other hand, homemade strawberry milk, which doesn't contain preservatives, usually lasts around 2 to 3 days in the refrigerator.
How do you tell if strawberry milk is bad?
To determine if your strawberry milk has gone bad, give it a good sniff. If it has a sour or off-putting smell, it's likely bad. Next, visually inspect the milk. If you notice lumps, clumps, a watery consistency, or unusual colors, those are clear signs that the milk has spoiled. In addition, pouring it into a glass and observing that the milk is separating is also an indication of spoilage.
Tips for storing strawberry milk to extend shelf life
• Store your strawberry milk in the refrigerator at a temperature below 40°F (4°C) to maintain its quality.
• For store-bought strawberry milk, don't leave it out at room temperature for more than two hours to prevent bacteria growth.
• With homemade strawberry milk, consume it as soon as possible since it lacks preservatives.
• If you wish to you prolong its life a bit, you can freeze strawberry milk. Pour it into a freezer-safe container leaving some room for expansion. To defrost, just move it to the refrigerator overnight.
