Expiration & Storage Tips
When does Apple Chips expire?
Unopened bags of apple chips can usually last for about 1-2 months past the printed expiration date if stored properly. Once the bag is opened, they can last up to 1 week, but after this point, they may lose their original texture and taste and even become stale. If frozen, apple chips can last for about 6-9 months, though it's not very common to freeze them.
How do you tell if Apple Chips is bad?
Stale apple chips will have a stale smell and their crispness will be gone. They may even feel very hard or rubbery. Besides, if the chips seem discolored or if there are any visible mold spots, they are absolutely past their prime and should be thrown away.
Tips for storing Apple Chips to extend shelf life
• Keep the apple chips in a cool and dry place away from sunlight to maintain their freshness.
• Once the package is opened, ensure that it is properly sealed after each use, a good way is using a clip to secure it. This will stop air from getting into the package and making the chips stale.
• Storing them in an airtight jar can also prevent moisture and air from coming in contact with the chips and extending their shelf life.
• If you choose to freeze apple chips, consider storing them in a vacuum sealed bag to maintain their flavor and texture. To defrost, simply leave them out at room temperature until they become normal.
