Expiration & Storage Tips
When does Stuffed Pork Chops expire?
Unopened stuffed pork chops, bought from the grocery store, usually last in the refrigerator for about 1 to 2 days, whereas in the freezer they can last up to 6 to 8 months. If you're past the 'use by' date printed on the package but the chops still look, smell, and feel fresh, they're probably still safe to eat. However, once they're opened or cooked, they should be eaten immediately or stored in the refrigerator and used within 3 to 4 days. If you have to freeze them, do it right after you cook them.
How do you tell if Stuffed Pork Chops is bad?
Stuffed pork chops that have gone bad will develop a slimy texture and an off smell. If you notice a significant amount of slimy film on the pork or if the meat gives off a sharp, sour odor, then it's best to discard it. Mold, strong 'off' odor, or a change into a dull, pale color instead of a vibrant pink are other indicators that the pork chop is no longer safe to consume.
Tips for storing Stuffed Pork Chops to extend shelf life
• Don't leave stuffed pork chops out for more than 2 hours at room temperature. Transfer them to the refrigerator as soon as you're done eating.
• Store cooked pork chops in shallow, airtight containers or wrap tightly with heavy-duty aluminum foil or plastic wrap.
• To freeze, wrap pork chops tightly with aluminum foil or plastic freezer wrap, or place in heavy-duty freezer bags.
• Thaw frozen pork chops overnight in the refrigerator before you're ready to use them, or if you're in a rush, they can be defrosted in the microwave with the defrost setting, just ensure to cook them right away after that as partially heated meat can breed bacteria.
