Expiration & Storage Tips
When does Asparagus Soup expire?
When unopened and currently stored in a factory-sealed can, asparagus soup can remain fresh for 3-5 years. On the other hand, if it has been opened and then refrigerated, its shelf life becomes significantly shorter, only one week. Once the canned asparagus soup is opened, it needs to be consumed in about a week. If you've frozen the soup, it can last in the freezer for up to two months. Also, remember that there may be a best before date printed on the package, it is just a guidance and not necessarily the real expiration date.
How do you tell if Asparagus Soup is bad?
Telling if asparagus soup has gone bad isn't too tricky. The first sign to look out for is any weird or abnormal smell - if your soup smells off or sour, it's a good sign it has spoiled. Secondly, if there are any visible mold patches either on the soup surface or on the inside of the can, don't risk it. Lastly, observe the color, texture and taste. If the soup's color has darkened significantly or its texture has become overly lumpy, the soup may be spoiled. If the taste is sharp or sour, it is definitely bad.
Tips for storing Asparagus Soup to extend shelf life
• Always try to store the asparagus soup in the refrigerator at a constant temperature.
• If you've opened a can of soup and plan to consume it later, transfer the leftovers to a lidded container rather than leaving them in the open can. Covering the soup will help avoid bacteria invasion.
• If you notice your soup is starting to go off, you can freeze it to extend its life. Cool it completely before placing it in the freezer. Make sure you use airtight containers to freeze the soup.
• Always label your containers with dates when you put them in the fridge or freezer. This will help you keep track of how long they've been stored
