Expiration & Storage Tips
When does Beef and Broccoli expire?
Your homemade beef and broccoli dish will typically last 3 to 5 days in the refrigerator. If it was made at a restaurant and you have some as leftover, the same applies. However, if you have unopened, frozen beef and broccoli - such as from a packaged meal - its shelf life can extend up to a year! Remember though, once you've thawed a frozen dish, don't refreeze it.
How do you tell if Beef and Broccoli is bad?
You'll be able to tell if your beef and broccoli has gone bad by its smell and appearance. Notice any off smells - a sour, rancid, or spoiled smell is a warning sign. The beef may turn a dull brown or grey color if it's bad. In addition, if you see mold on your beef and broccoli, do not consume it. It's always better to err on the side of caution.
Tips for storing Beef and Broccoli to extend shelf life
• Always store your beef and broccoli in an airtight container in your refrigerator. This will slow down the growth of bacteria dramatically!
• Try and eat leftovers within 2 days of cooking for the best quality.
• If you want to store it longer, you can freeze it. Allow the meal to cool completely before packing it in a freezer bag or airtight container. Don't forget to label it with the date!
• When thawing your frozen beef and broccoli, it's best to do so in the refrigerator. This keeps the meal at a safe temperature while it thaws. Heat it thoroughly on the stove or in the microwave before eating.
