Expiration & Storage Tips
When does Flavored Sparkling Water expire?
Flavored sparkling water generally has a shelf life of about 1 to 2 years when unopened, and often have a printed date on the package which can serve as a guide. However, the water doesn't necessarily become unsafe to drink post the printed date but might lose some of its flavor or carbonation. Once opened, a bottle or can of flavored sparkling water should ideally be consumed within 2 to 3 days if kept refrigerated to maintain its optimal taste and carbonation.
How do you tell if Flavored Sparkling Water is bad?
The first sign that your flavored sparkling water is not good to consume any more is lost carbonation. When you open the bottle or can and it doesn't have its usual fizzle or the water is flat, you may want to reconsider drinking it. Also check for any unusual smell, cloudiness in the color, or a change in flavor. If there are any of these signs, it's best to dispose of the water and get a fresh one.
Tips for storing Flavored Sparkling Water to extend shelf life
• Always store your flavored sparkling water in a cool and dark place, away from sunlight and heat. This could be a pantry, cupboard or basement.
• If stored out of the fridge, make sure the temperature is consistent. Avoid storing in places with fluctuating temperatures like garages or outdoors.
• Once opened, it's best to keep it refrigerated and tightly capped to maintain its carbonation.
• An unopened can of flavored sparkling water can be frozen to make a refreshing slushy! Just make sure you're cautious as cans can explode in the freezer if completely filled. Defrost in the refrigerator or in a bowl of cold water.
• Don't drink directly from the bottle if you plan on storing it after opening. Microbes from our mouth can affect the quality of the water.
