Expiration & Storage Tips
When does Blueberry Pancakes expire?
Homemade blueberry pancakes are best eaten immediately but can last up to 2 days at room temperature. If refrigerated, they can last up to 5 days. When frozen, pancakes should be consumed within 1 to 2 months. Commercially packaged blueberry pancakes usually have a printed expiration date and can last beyond this date if unopened, but once opened, aim to consume within a week. Always consume by the use-by date once the package is opened, or even earlier if signs of spoilage are evident.
How do you tell if Blueberry Pancakes is bad?
Blueberry pancakes have gone bad if they develop an off smell, any signs of mold, or if they have been left out at room temperature for more than two days. Pancakes that have been frozen and then thawed should not be refrozen, and if they develop a freezer burnt appearance (white, dried out patches), it's best to discard them. In all cases, when in doubt, throw it out!
Tips for storing Blueberry Pancakes to extend shelf life
• Homemade pancakes are best stored in airtight containers or ziplock bags to keep them fresh.
• If you're going to freeze your pancakes, first allow them to cool completely, then place a piece of parchment paper between each pancake before placing them into a freezer bag or airtight container to prevent them from sticking together.
• For packaged pancakes, always reseal the package or transfer the pancakes into an airtight container after opening.
• Refrigerated pancakes should be eaten within days for the best taste and texture, but frozen pancakes should be consumed within 1 to 2 months.
