Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the fettuccine pasta and cook until al dente, according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil and 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter over medium-high heat.

Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet. Sprinkle with 1/4 teaspoon of salt and cook for 2 minutes, stirring often, until the mushrooms soften.

Add the minced garlic, freshly ground black pepper and chili flakes to the skillet and cook for another minute.

Remove the skillet from heat and stir in the cooked pasta, remaining butter, and 1/4 teaspoon of salt. Return the skillet to low heat and stir until the butter melts and the pasta warms through.

Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese and continue heating the pasta, stirring constantly, until the cheese melts.
