Expiration & Storage Tips
When does Cauliflower Soup expire?
Cauliflower soup, when homemade and properly stored, can generally last 3-4 days in the fridge. If it has dairy base, its shelf life reduces to 1-2 days. If you have bought a canned version of cauliflower soup from the store and it's unopened, you have a good 3-5 years to consume it, depending on the best before date indicated on the can. In case you decide to freeze the soup, it extends the life up to 4-6 months.
How do you tell if Cauliflower Soup is bad?
There are a few obvious signs to look out for when your soup has spoiled. If it smells sour, musty or has an off odor, it has likely gone bad. If there is a thick colorful layer formed over the soup indicating mould, this is another strong sign. Also, the soup may also become watery, which can indicate bacterial growth. If in doubt, it's safer to discard it.
Tips for storing Cauliflower Soup to extend shelf life
• Always store cauliflower soup in an air-tight container or even vacuum-sealed bags to extend its life.
• Prompt refrigeration or freezing after cooking or opening the can is quite crucial to maintain its freshness.
• If you are freezing it, make sure it's cooled a bit first, but don't leave it at room temperature for longer than 2 hours.
• Try to separate the soup into individual portions before storing, especially if it has a dairy base. This way, you can thaw only the amount you need, and the rest can stay frozen, extending its shelf life.
