Expiration & Storage Tips
When does Chicken Quesadilla expire?
A store-bought, packaged chicken quesadilla has a shelf-life of up to the 'best by' date printed on the packaging when unopened and stored in a cool and dry cupboard. Once opened and refrigerated, the quesadilla should be eaten within 24-48 hours to ensure freshness and safety. If frozen, a homemade chicken quesadilla can last up to 2-3 months.
How do you tell if Chicken Quesadilla is bad?
Determining whether a chicken quesadilla has gone bad is relatively easy. First, look for any mold which shows up in different colors or irregularities on the surface. Additionally, you can smell the quesadilla. If it has an off or foul odor, it's likely bad. A sour taste is another clear sign it's time to get rid of it. And lastly, if you've had it in the fridge for over 48 hours, it's better to be safe and dispose of it.
Tips for storing Chicken Quesadilla to extend shelf life
• Always store your chicken quesadilla in a refrigerator within 2 hours of making or opening, as they are perishable and can breed bacteria at room temperature.
• If freezing, wrap each quesadilla individually in foil. Then place all in a freezer-safe bag. This will protect against freezer burn and allow for individual servings to be defrosted.
• To defrost, leave it in the refrigerator overnight.
• When reheating, ensure the chicken reaches a safe internal temperature of at least 165F to kill any potential bacteria.
