Beer, Hickory Stick Stout Estd. 1994. 57 IBU. 45 SRM. 13.0 Plato O.G. Bark and bite. Hickory Stick Stout is a complex beauty. Rich, flavorful, and aromatic but not overly heavy. Roasted black and chocolate malts give this beer its dark color and robust flavors of coffee and dark chocolate. Pale and crystal malts impart a mild sweetness and caramel flavor to balance the intense roasted malts. Olde Hickory Brewery was founded in 1994 on a 7 barrel converted dairy system. We quickly outgrew that operation and in 1997 we began renovations on an 1880 historic building in downtown Hickory. That beautiful building is now home to our much larger, 25 barrel brewery.
