In a fine-mesh sieve, rinse your Basmati rice under cool running water until the water runs clear. This helps remove excess starch and prevents the rice from being clumpy.

In a large skillet, heat your vegetable oil over medium-high heat.

Sauté your finely chopped onion in the heated oil until it becomes translucent, usually takes around 2-3 minutes.

Add your minced garlic, ground paprika, cumin, salt and black pepper. Stir everything together and cook for another 1-2 minutes until aromatic.

Add your diced bell pepper and green peas, sauté them with the onion and garlic for about 2 minutes.

Add your rinsed Basmati rice to the skillet. Stir it well to ensure each grain is coated in the oil and onion mixture.

Pour in your chicken broth and stir. Once the broth starts boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the skillet with a lid and let the rice cook for about 12 minutes until all the broth is absorbed.

Next, stir in your pre-cooked shrimp, just enough to warm them through. It will usually take about 2 minutes.
