Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a cake pan or line it with parchment paper.

In a large bowl, cream softened unsalted butter, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract together with an electric mixer until smooth.

Add the large eggs one at a time, continuously beating with the mixer.

In a separate bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.

Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.

In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the semi-sweet chocolate chips and stir into one half of the batter.

Alternate pouring the vanilla and chocolate batters into the prepared cake pan.

Using the tip of a knife, swirl through the batters to create a marbled effect.

Bake for 45 minutes in the preheated oven. If the cake starts to darken too much, cover with aluminum foil.

Check for doneness with a toothpick. If needed, bake for an additional 5-10 minutes or until the toothpick comes out clean.
