Expiration & Storage Tips
When does Nachos expire?
An unopened bag of nachos (or tortilla chips) can last up to six months past the printed package date, though its taste and crunch may deteriorate over time. Once opened, they tend to remain fresh for about 2 weeks, but this can vary depending on how well they're stored. If frozen, they can last indefinitely, but the taste and texture may change after two months.
How do you tell if Nachos is bad?
If your nachos have an off smell or taste, then they've probably gone bad. The surefire sign, however, is mold (though this is unlikely if the nachos have been kept dry). If they've lost their crunch and become soft or chewy, they may not be bad, but they won't be particularly enjoyable to eat.
Tips for storing Nachos to extend shelf life
• Always reseal the bag of nachos after use to keep the air out. This can be done with a clip or by rolling the top of the bag over and securing it with a rubber band.
• Store your nachos in a cool, dry place. This will help them keep their crunch for longer.
• If you've bought a larger bag and know you won't finish it soon, freezing part of it might be a good option. Just make sure to defrost them at room temperature.
