Expiration & Storage Tips
When does Energy Balls expire?
Fresh made energy balls, if not consumed immediately, can last about 1-2 weeks in the refrigerator without losing their freshness. When stored in the freezer, they can last up to 3 months. Once opened, their shelf life remains the same as long as they are stored correctly, in airtight containers. As they are generally homemade treats, expiration dates on packages do not apply
How do you tell if Energy Balls is bad?
If your energy balls appear overly dry, discolored, or have developed any unusual odors, it's best to err on the side of caution and throw them out. Mold is also a clear sign that your energy balls have gone bad. Since they usually contain a dense concentration of ingredients, it's hard for them to go bad unnoticed
Tips for storing Energy Balls to extend shelf life
• Always store your energy balls in an airtight container to prevent moisture loss and contamination.
• Keeping them layered between sheets of baking paper in the container can prevent them from sticking together.
• For a long-term storage solution, try freezing them. Just put them in a freezer-safe container or bag, separating layers with sheets of baking paper.
• To defrost, you can simply remove them from the freezer and let them thaw in the refrigerator for a few hours before you're ready to nibble.
