Expiration & Storage Tips
When does bloody mary mix expire?
Unopened, Bloody Mary Mix can last up to three years from the date of production if properly stored in a cool, dry place. Once it is opened, it should ideally be consumed within two weeks to a month for optimum quality. The mix can also be frozen and will last in the freezer for up to 6 months. You just need to ensure to leave enough space as the liquid will expand when frozen.
How do you tell if bloody mary mix is bad?
If the mix starts giving off a foul or unusual odor, it is likely spoiled. Discoloration or mold formation is another sure sign of spoilage. Also, if the container is swollen and/or leaking, it might mean internal gas production, which is a strong sign of microbial activity and spoilage.
Tips for storing bloody mary mix to extend shelf life
• Store unopened Bloody Mary Mix in a cool, dry, dark place like a pantry or cabinet. Avoid placing it near heat sources like the stove or oven.
• Once opened, it should be stored in the fridge to maintain its freshness longer.
• To freeze the mix, use an air-tight, freezer-safe container, but don't fill it to the brim. Leaving a bit of room will accommodate the liquid's expansion when it freezes.
• When you're ready to defrost the frozen mix, move it from the freezer to the fridge a day before you plan to use it. This slow defrosting process helps to maintain the mix's texture and flavor.
