Expiration & Storage Tips
When does grape soda expire?
Unopened grape soda typically lasts about 6-9 months past the date printed on its packaging when stored at room temperature. Once it's opened, whether it's a can or a bottle, it should be consumed within 2-3 days if refrigerated to maintain the fizz and quality. If you've frozen your grape soda, it can last indefinitely, but it's best consumed within a few months for quality.
How do you tell if grape soda is bad?
Check the color and the smell of the grape soda. If the color has faded and does not have a vibrant purple hue or the smell is off, it's a sign that the soda has gone bad. Also, if you open the bottle or can and the soda doesn't fizz or bubble as usual, that's a clear sign that it has lost its carbonation and it should be discarded.
Tips for storing grape soda to extend shelf life
• Always store unopened grape soda cans or bottles in a cool and dry place away from direct sunlight. Your kitchen cabinet could serve this purpose.
• After opening, ensure to tightly seal the soda and keep it refrigerated. Drinking it soon after it's open is the best way to enjoy the carbonation.
• Freezing is not usually recommended. Besides potential can or bottle rupture, it could lead to loss of carbonation when defrosting.
• For opened cans, you can prolong the soda's carbonation by adding a plastic wrap before sealing it with a lid or aluminum foil.
