Expiration & Storage Tips
When does mango juice expire?
Unopened store-bought mango juice usually lasts for 1 to 2 weeks past the date printed on the package if stored in the pantry. When refrigerated, it can last 7 to 10 days past its 'best by' date. Once you open the package, it is best to consume the juice within 7 to 10 days. You can alternatively freeze mango juice, the longevity of which can stretch up to 8 to 12 months. Homemade mango juice should be consumed within two days if refrigerated, and can also be frozen for longer shelf life.
How do you tell if mango juice is bad?
Check if the juice has developed an off smell or if it tastes sour or fermented; these are clear indications that the juice has spoiled. Also, if you can see mold or yeast formations within the container or observe separation or a change in the color of the juice, it's time to discard the product.
Tips for storing mango juice to extend shelf life
• Always keep mango juice in a cool, dry place before opening.
• After opening, ensure to refrigerate the juice promptly. Pack it in airtight containers to avoid any contact with moisture or other food odors.
• If your mango juice is homemade, consume it as quickly as possible. If you need to store it, ensure it is in a clean, airtight bottle in the refrigerator.
• To freeze, pour the juice into ice cube trays. Once frozen, transfer the juice cubes to a zip-lock bag and remove as much air as possible, this will keep the juice fresh for several months.
