Expiration & Storage Tips
When does Monster Cookies expire?
Unopened monster cookies, like most packaged cookies, can last up to two months past their printed date if stored properly. It's always best to check the packaging details to be sure. Once you've opened the package, however, you should eat them within one to two weeks, as exposure to air will cause them to harden and lose freshness. If you've made monster cookies at home, you should use them within a week. Good news though, these cookies can be frozen! In the freezer, they can last up to 3 months. When you're ready to eat them, you can defrost them at room temperature for about an hour.
How do you tell if Monster Cookies is bad?
First of all, trust your senses. If the monster cookies have a strange smell, taste, or if they're overly hard, discard them. Mold is another sign that cookies have gone bad. So, if you see green or white fuzzy spots on your cookies, it's better to toss them away. A change in color could also be an indication that your cookies are no longer good.
Tips for storing Monster Cookies to extend shelf life
• Always store your monster cookies in an airtight container. This will keep them from getting stale and hard.
• Store them in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. The pantry or a cupboard should be perfect.
• Homemade cookies tend to harden quickly because they lack commercial preservatives, so consume them as early as possible for the best taste and texture.
• If you want to freeze them, wrap each cookie individually in clear plastic wrap and store them in a resealable plastic bag or container. Remember to label the container with the date.
