Hand Sanitizer

Hand sanitizer, also known as hand antiseptic or hand rub, is a liquid, gel, or foam-based solution containing active ingredients such as alcohol, which is designed to rapidly eliminate or suppress microorganisms present on the skin. Widely used as an alternative to handwashing with soap and water, hand sanitizers serve to maintain hand hygiene and play an essential role in controlling the transmission of infectious diseases in various settings including healthcare facilities, schools, and homes. In recent years, hand sanitizer has become a staple in everyday personal care, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. To ensure optimal effectiveness, it is advised to choose a formula containing at least 60% alcohol. Proper usage includes applying a sufficient amount of sanitizer on dry hands, rubbing all areas of the hands until completely dry, which should take about 20 seconds. Hand sanitizers are not recommended as a substitute for handwashing when hands are visibly soiled or greasy or when in contact with chemicals.
