Eyelashes

Eyelashes are hair-like structures on the edges of the eyelids that serve several important purposes, such as providing protection to the eyes from foreign objects and debris, as well as helping to keep the eyes moist by spreading tears across the eye's surface. They are made up of keratin protein and are composed of a length of hair that grows outward from the follicle at the base of the lash. For beauty purposes, individuals often enhance their natural eyelashes with the use of cosmetic products, such as mascara or false eyelashes. Mascara is used to darken, thicken or lengthen the appearance of the lashes, while false eyelashes, typically made of synthetic materials or natural fibers, are applied temporarily to add volume, length, and fullness to the existing eyelashes.
