Expiration & Storage Tips
When does Daiquiri expire?
A freshly made Daiquiri doesn't have a long shelf life. Ideally, you should consume it immediately after preparation. If refrigerating, consume it within 1-2 hours. Please note, the taste of the cocktail can change if left standing for too long due to the lime juice. If your daiquiri is prepackaged, unopened daiquiris should be stored in a cool, dark place and can typically last up to 6 months, depending on the manufacturer's instructions. Once opened, consume it within a week and keep it refrigerated. A frozen daiquiri can last up to three months in a freezer, as the freezing point of alcohol extends the shelf life.
How do you tell if Daiquiri is bad?
If your Daiquiri looks cloudy, or if there's an off smell, it may has gone bad. Unpleasant smells or an off-taste would be another signal that your Daiquiri should no longer be consumed. For frozen versions, ice crystals forming within the drink can be a sign of freezer burn, which can affect the taste negatively.
Tips for storing Daiquiri to extend shelf life
• Always store your Daiquiri in a cool, dark place when unopened.
• Once opened, make sure to place your Daiquiri in the refrigerator to extend its lifespan.
• If you’re only halfway through the bottle and want to save the rest, store it upright with its original cap tightly secured. A wine vacuum pump can be used to remove air from the bottle and increase its lifespan.
• For a frozen Daiquiri, store it in a tightly sealed container to prevent contact with air, which can lead to freezer burn.
