Expiration & Storage Tips
When does Cold Brew Coffee expire?
A homemade cold brew coffee can last up to two weeks in the refrigerator, if properly stored in a clean, airtight container. This timeframe is shorter if the coffee is mixed with dairy or sweeteners, usually 2-3 days. When it comes to purchased cold brew from the shop, it's best to follow the date on the package once opened and consume within 7-10 days. When frozen, it'll keep its best quality for about 3-4 weeks.
How do you tell if Cold Brew Coffee is bad?
Check the aroma and taste. Fresh cold brew has a robust, smooth and rich coffee flavor. If it starts to smell off, or the flavor becomes sour, weak or bitter than usual, it may have gone bad. And definitely, toss it if you see any molds growing in the container.
Tips for storing Cold Brew Coffee to extend shelf life
• Always use clean and airtight container for storing
• Store the cold brew coffee in the refrigerator right after brewing or buying
• Try not to mix milk or sweeteners until you're ready to serve. This will extend the freshness span.
• Freeze the coffee in ice cube trays to maintain the flavor and easily defrost by putting them directly in your glass.
• Keep the leftover coffee in the original bottle if it's store bought to preserve the taste.
