The Cotes Du Rhone Rouge sets the standard for the appellation. Since the 1998 vintage, the wine is now based on Syrah (50-60%), with about 30-40% Grenache and the balance in Mourvedre and other varieties. The wine is exceptionally structured, rich, and complex. Unlike most producers in the appellation, Guigal ages the Cotes Du Rhone Rouge for a full two years before release.
