Heat the coconut oil in a large cast-iron skillet over medium high heat.

Mix together the kosher salt, Mexican seasoning, crushed red pepper, and black pepper. Use this mixture to season the salmon on all sides.

Place the salmon filet skin side down in the hot oil.

Cook the salmon undisturbed until it is browned and crispy along the bottom edge, and the flesh is opaque about half way up the side of the filet, about 6 minutes.

Flip the salmon over and remove the skillet from heat. Let the salmon remain in the skillet; the carry-over heat will continue to cook the salmon to the desired doneness, about 4 minutes more.

While the salmon cooks, scoop out the avocado flesh into a bowl. Add the chopped basil, lime juice, and the remaining salt. Mash until well combined.
