Rub garlic paste all over the beef chuck roast. Sprinkle with ground pepper and salt.

Place carrots, onions, celery, and halved potatoes at the bottom of a slow cooker.

In a small bowl, mix corn starch with 1 tbsp of chicken stock, then pour over vegetables.

Add tomato paste and Worcestershire sauce to the slow cooker, mixing gently.

Pour in the remaining chicken stock and place rosemary sprigs on top.

Place seasoned beef on top of the vegetables in the slow cooker.

Cover with the lid and cook on high heat for 6 hours or low heat for 8 hours.
