Add the ground beef to a medium bowl. Season it with fresh ground black pepper, garlic powder, kosher salt, and drizzle over the olive oil. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.

Divide the beef mixture into 8 equal portions and shape each portion into a 3-inch patty.

Place a grill pan or cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat.
