Petroleum Jelly

Petroleum jelly, also known as petrolatum, is a semi-solid mixture of hydrocarbons derived from petroleum. It appears as a colorless to pale yellow ointment and is mainly composed of mineral oils and waxes. Petroleum jelly was originally discovered in 1859 by Robert A. Chesebrough, an American chemist, and has been widely used for its emollient qualities and moisture-sealing properties. In personal care, petroleum jelly is commonly used for skin moisturization, lip care, and as a barrier against skin irritation. It also serves various purposes in households, such as lubricating hinges, preventing battery corrosion, and sealing small leaks.
